Why Do I Need to Wear a Retainer?
Your teeth are constantly moving, even after your braces or Invisalign® Treatment is finished. Retainers provide the gentle support needed to keep your teeth from shifting out of alignment. Skipping your retainer can lead to "relapse," where your teeth start to crowd or gap again. We want to make sure your investment lasts forever!
Different Types of Retainers
Every smile is unique, so we offer a few different ways to keep yours in place:
Clear Retainers
These are thin, transparent trays that fit right over your teeth. They’re super popular because they’re nearly invisible and very comfortable.
Hawley Retainers
These are the classic removable retainers made of a thin metal wire and a durable acrylic frame that sits against the roof of your mouth or behind your lower teeth.
How Often Do I Need to Wear My Retainer?
When you first finish treatment, you’ll usually wear your removable retainers for 18-24 hours a day. As your smile stabilizes, our team will let you know when it’s safe to switch to nighttime-only wear. The goal is to make it a seamless part of your routine!

I enjoy their company and appreciate meeting them cause they made my day. Also when you go in have fun colored hair because they love it and we were having great conversation. I have been with Dr. Loyacona and staff since February 2022 when I initially got braces. They have all been NOTHING LESS than kind, courteous and very professional. Always attentive to my orthodontic needs. I'm now free of braces, however I am in a retainer and the transition was seamless.
